$26,000. Thirteen deserving Maroons who’ve received much-needed funds to continue their education beyond the halls of Austin High.
Almost 50 years since their graduation from AHS, members of the Class of 1970 regularly and generously give to Stephen F. Austin High School Continuing Education Foundation (AHSCEF), funding scholarships for seniors who need financial assistance to go to to college or trade school. AHSCEF thanks these alums for their continued support, with special kudos to Kevin Maguire, the Foundation’s board member who spearheads the donation drive for the class.
Among the thirteen scholarships, at least four have been given in honor of deceased members of AHS ’70. Griff Andrews, Cathy Scott McElroy, Ivan Leshikar, and Brad Boring have been lovingly remembered by their classmates.
What is Dedication Day?
Held each spring, Dedication Day is observed as an anniversary celebration of the 1976 dedication of the Lakeside Campus. We consider Dedication Day to be the “official birthday” of the school. Distinguished Alumni and Honored Faculty are inducted into the Hall of Honor , AHS alumni Veterans are honored, and select Seniors are inducted into the Maroon Society.
The purpose of Dedication Day is to “tie the new school to the old and the past to the present.” When the school was moved to its present lakeside location – in 1975 – students created a movement known as the Hall of Honor Student Steering Committee. The work of the student committee resulted in an annual observance – Dedication Day, and a reason for an annual observance – The Austin High School Hall of Honor, a roll call of distinguished and meritorious Maroons.
Dedication Day events include an archival display, an honoree induction ceremony, and the Grand Assembly. In the Grand Assembly, more than 200 former students, teachers and community guests join over 2000 students and 200 staff members for the coming together of Austin High past, present and future.

Austin High School is proud to claim that we have the 2nd largest class ring collection – 2nd only to Texas A&M University. We would love to add rings from missing years to the collection and need your help. Please consider donating your ring to the collection to complete the following years:
1917, 1929, 1982, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2001, 2005-17.

The Austin High School Band Program is in need of your support. We are proud to announce that we are growing faster than ever, but due to a shortage of state funding, we are lacking the ability to purchase and maintain essential equipment to perform.
True to the Austin High School Loyal Forever motto, the Austin High Band places a strong emphasis on student leadership, individual accountability and character building. Our hope is to have Austin High Band students become better citizens, leaders and music-lovers for life. We understand that a vital part of the success of the Austin High School Band Program comes from our dedicated parent volunteers and strong support from our community.

In September the Austin High School Alumni Association was the recipient of a contribution in the amount of $1,253.88 from Catherine Cruver and the class of 1990. They class recently held their 20 year reunion and voted to donate the remaining funds to the association. On behalf of the thousands of alumni who remain loyal to Austin High School, we thank you for your generous support.
We wish to thank everyone for their donations to the Loyal Forever Alumni Association. Your gifts support a number of causes at Austin High and continued excellence at AHS. We thank the class of 1962 for their lifetime donation to the Alumni Association and also thank Lynn Segall (AHS ’70) for his contribution of $500 to help us upgrade the Loyal Forever website (in process).
